A recent transport from Tennessee, Emily is one of the newest members of our training staff. She is a graduate of Belmont University. She is also CPR certified, holds personal training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and is a certified TRX instructor . Fortunately, healthy habits have been ingrained in me my whole life. Despite my parents hailing from the nation’s fattest state, my mother is a dietitian; my father is a marathon runner, and our family has always been active as a result. Comfort food at my parents’ house consists of fish and vegetables, and our vacations always involved hours of bike riding daily at the beach, or city visits with our only mode of transportation being our feet. Beyond what I grew up knowing and doing via my family, I started my own fitness journey more recently. Outside of being a regular gym-attender, I started more than occasionally running during my last year of college, when my parents offered to take me on a trip IF I ran a 10k with my dad. Training for that race, I fell in love with running then and have run many races since. Running has been an integral part of my life that has tied in with my interests in nutrition and all types of exercise- from weight training and mountain biking to dance, it’s all fun for me. Only a few years after college, I found out that my heart resided outside the walls of a cubicle. I’ve discovered that constant self improvement and learning more about about the world around me is one of my passions. Teaching and sharing things that excite me with others is another. I like to accomplish an objective, and achieve the realization of capability past expectations. Working with clients this plays out in ways such as: helping people lose fat and gain muscle, run further and faster than imagined, or even just by learning to love being healthy and to bypass mental barriers. That’s the story of me. From this alone, it won’t be surprising to many that I’ve pursued a career as a personal trainer. I look forward to continuing to learn, and sharing the goals of those with whom I work.
